Hybrid Car

I generally understand that it’s up to me to make good, positive changes to become less wasteful and take steps to reverse some of the damage we have done to the planet. I won’t go so far as to pay carbon credits as I find that a bit strange, but I am still wavering on replacing my big old, fuel wasting SUV with a hybrid. I know they help the environment, but I need more convincing, more reasons to buy a hybrid car than saving a few bucks at the gas station.

What I found were actually quite a few reasons.

1. It’s time to get started. You’re going to pay more for a hybrid than a traditional car. Eventually, you will make up the difference in gas savings, but that will take some time. While both these points sound like I’m telling you it’s not a good idea, the reality is that we have to start somewhere. We know that Congress has ordered automakers to begin seriously working on cars that will replace what we drive today. We’re not there yet, but we are working to get there. These cars are a step in that direction. The inevitable is coming and you might as well get started.

2. You really are helping to reverse emissions damage. When you drive a hybrid, you are helping to reduce the nasty brown cloud we’ve all been complaining about.

3. A hybrid makes sense. You have the option, previously unattainable in simple electric cars, of moving between the traditional fuel reserves or operating totally off electric, usually with the flick of a switch, whenever you need it.

4. You recharge your battery every time you break.

5. You now have options you didn’t have with hybrids even five years ago. That would include the option to get into an SUV hybrid. However, it now also means that, since manufacturers have been at this for a little time now, they know that you want those creature comforts you’ve gotten used to in your traditional car. So, you don’t have to opt for an ugly tiny box of a car anymore.

6. You will get a really, really good tax break from the federal government for buying your hybrid.

7. You get primo parking at the library and at many other locations. Okay, so that last one is just my personal thing, but I must admit that I hate finding a parking spot in the city and I have always envied those spots reserved for alternate fuel vehicles.

Researching information on best hybrid cars helped me dispel my own personal myths about hybrids. I thought they only came in tiny and ugly and I realize now that five years have brought about lots of change. I also see that they are no longer as expensive as they used to be. I suppose that is like, for fear of dating myself, how it was with the first VCR I bought which was nearly a $1000. Blows your mind, doesn’t it?

The electric qualities of the Toyota Camry hybrid are subtle compared to its counter parts. While driving the Toyota Prius, the driver can tell when the gas engine has shut off and the car’s power is coming from the battery.

Likewise, one can also tell when the gas engine has kicked back on, and the car is needing more power than the battery can provide. This is not the case with the Toyota Camry Hybrid. This car offers a smooth, seamless ride. One has to be really paying attention to the engine to determine which source is powering the car.

The smart vehicle demonstrates there are options, other than hybrids, when seeking excellent fuel economy at a time when fuel prices have been at a historic high.

The Smart vehicle comes equipped with interchangeable body panels for color customization, and if thats not smart enough, how about being able to park it practically anywhere. This trendy little car was designed for crazy traffic in crowded European cities where maneuverability and parking are big problems. And this is one reason why lots of Europe using smart vehicle.

The Smart Vehicle actually did pretty well in the 70 MPH collision. I would definitely not want to be in that car when it crashed. Smart car also one of safest car. That number puts the Fortwo fifth on the list of fuel efficient models, behind several hybrid and diesel models, but at the top of the gasoline powered car heap.

Whether buying smart vehicle or not, both options have advantages and disadvantages that the car buyer alone would be the best person to be knowledgeable about as he or she would know what would work well as according to his/her needs, wants, preference, budget and whim. I’ve done tell you about hybrid cars and electric cars. Now  its time to tell you about smart cars. Smart cars are manufactured by a Micro Compact Car AG. The company has its’ headquarters in Switzerland and produces a lot of its cars in France.

Smart cars were create for European cities dwellers and was designed to be light on fuel and be easy to park. It is awfully small when compared with the average American car. With so much highway driving in this country, it seems that a high impact, high speed crash would be devastating for the occupants of Smart cars.

One of the most important aims of the smart cars is to enable driverless commuting. Smart cars are also expected to ensure pollution control and possess anti-lock breaking systems. There are certain smart cars ventures which have been launched for improving the level of intelligence.

The first Smart Cars were produced by the Swatch Swiss watch manufacturer. They wanted a very small cars that could be easy to drive and park in the crowded European cities. They also wanted the car to be cheap enough for young people to afford it. From 2006 onward, all the Smart models are being created and sold by the Mercedes-Benz automobile group.

In many parts of Europe the Smart Cars, especially the Fortwo model (as its name implies, it can carry only two passengers) was a success, while the Fortwo model was taken out of production recently.

The company has long worked on alternative-technology vehicles, and has recently led the industry with clean burning Flexfuel vehicles that can run on either E85 (ethanol) or gasoline. In 2005, the Opel Astra diesel Hybrid concept vehicle was introduce. In 2006 saturn Vue Green Line was the first hybrid passanger vehicle from GM and also a mild design. GMC cars has hinted at new hybrid technologies to be employed that will be optimized for higher speed in freeway driving . Future hybrid vehicles should include the 2007 GMC Yukon, the Saturn Aura, and an update Saturn Vue based an Opel design like the Saturn Aura.
