Electric automobile is vehicle that derives their power from electric motors. Many people may think that they are a fairly new invention, when actually, some of the earliest automobiles produced were already powered by electric motors that were fueled by batteries. The technology of electric automobile is still in the growth stage and continues to be considered a viable alternative to fossil fuel consumption.

The important factor that determines the cost and performance of electric automobile is the batteries. Today, advancements in electric automobile technology have produced a number of battery types such as advanced lead-acid batteries, lithium polymer batteries and nickel metal hydride. However, even if an electric automobile is extremely efficient, the capacity of the batteries is still very limited. And how do you recharge them – by plugging the vehicle into a power outlet. And how is the electricity in the outlet being produced? In Power plants running on, you guessed it – petroleum, natural gas, coal, hydroelectric (water), or nuclear energy.

Electric automobile still have a long way to go before they reach the mainstream market. Technology electric automobile continues to improve and new innovations are constantly being introduced. Many people are considering the option to convert their automobile to run on electricity from home. Ever since the prices of gasoline reach a new level, many car owners are facing a financial challenge just to refuel their cars. May be elelectric automobile is one of best idea.

Electric automobile is fun to drive and accelerate fast from a dead stop. This is because they have two speeds; off and on. They are nice too because they are quiet and peaceful; no noise pollution. For safety sake the silent running electric vehicles will now be required to make noise; to prevent accidents of other cars, bicycles and pedestrians. Electric Automobile makers are using this as a marketing tool saying you can choose the sound you wish your car to make.
